A resident of the greater Reno, Nevada, area,
John Gessin divides his time between academic responsibilities, community service, and outdoor hobbies. A longtime member of the information technology (IT) industry, he recently returned to school to earn his Master of Science in Information Systems Technology. As a graduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno, John Gessin has expanded his technical skill set and learned leadership techniques that will help advance his career. He also holds certification as a Cisco Certified Network Administrator and an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Business Administration. In addition to his academic endeavors, John Gessin sets aside time to volunteer in his community. A mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, he meets at least once each week with his “Little Brother.” Mr. Gessin also tutors local youth and supports Goodwill Industries International, Inc. An active father, he attends meetings and events for the Parent Teacher Association. When he has free time, John Gessin enjoys visiting nearby Lake Tahoe to relax on the beach and go boating, and he finds pleasure in exploring the region's wilderness through hiking and biking. A member of the Computer & Communications Industry Association and the Association of Information Technology Professionals, John Gessin has a strong background in IT. Serving as a consultant, project manager, and IT department manager, he has completed numerous senior IT projects, worked with clients to build and repair servers, and managed personnel both locally and remotely.
